Woolworths has unveiled its most advance store in Queensland at Racecourse village in Ascot, which includes a drive-thru to pick up online grocery orders.
This new supermarket store is unlike any Woolies you’ve shopped at before. There is the drive-thru service with dedicated car park spaces, and there’s an expanded range of ready to eat meals, onsite butcher, flame roasted rotisserie chickens, and made to order cakes.
Instead of traipsing through the aisles of a supermarket, customers can order their groceries on an app. Once the shopping is ready, customers get a notification and an employee will bring out the shopping straight to the car.
BOOM! It sounds great, however, I do have concerns about the quality of produce being collected and handed to consumers.
Online shopping with our local Woolworths often proves to be a disaster with unavailable items being replaced with some odd choices and the produce being of average quality and not really something I would pick. I, like other consumers, tend to pick through the pile for the best produce.
It’s also worth noting that with a premium store comes premium prices. Yes, the prices for the same products are considerably higher at this store.
