When the ATO becomes the criminal and cheat

Featured Law News

The truth is that the ATO is cheating millions of Australian’s out of their hard-earned money.

Over the last few months, the media have covered more than enough stories either telling Australians that the ATO think we’re a bunch of cheats and are not paying enough tax or how the ATO is targetting anyone with ‘Other Work Expenses’.

The behaviour shown by the ATO is nothing more than bullying and scare tactics. I’m sure that many Australian’s re-thought their ‘Other Work Expenses’ claims to the point that some people did not claim anything where they were entitled to, purely to avoid the big scary tax man.

But what surprises me the most is that out of all the finger pointing the ATO is doing calling Australian’s criminals and cheats for not paying enough tax, not a single media outlet has pointed out that the ATO itself is an illegal and unauthorized entity operating in Australia. Nor have they pointed out that the tax system is voluntary and it’s up to us Australian’s to tell the ATO how much we are going to give them.

It’s about time we turned this thing around and made the Australian Government and the ATO work for their money. Instead of there being a budget shortfall where the Government finds ways to extract more money from all Australian’s, we need to make the Australian Government do their job in creating the money to fix the shortfall and make the Australian Government a little more self-sufficient. (I’m not talking about printing more money either).

The Australian Government needs to start operating a few more profitable business in Australia, not sell them off for a one-time fat cheque.

It’s possible to create a win-win situation. If we had national energy, national telecommunications, and national flights run by Government that was profitable for Government, yet affordable for the consumer then it’s almost a certainty that the Government would be pocketing more money than it is from the Tax evading corporations who dominate these sectors.

The government always claim to be working for Australian’s, yet I’m not the only one not seeing that right now. I’m seeing money being wasted by the Australian Government, I see the Government asking for more money from Australians.

Every budget is simply a reallocation of the same funds to different areas. It’s a guarantee that someone in one of these sectors who receives funding from Government is going to be upset, budgets never really please everyone and it’s the same thing every year, where did they allocate money. Why aren’t we having new thinking and new ideas to raise more money to try and cover more sectors. That’s what working for Australian’s is all about, not what they are doing now.

The Government and the ATO need to be transparent with all Australian’s and that needs to happen right now. Has anyone ever questioned where the money collected from all working Australian’s really goes to? What about the tax collected every time we eat, drink, buy a new phone, computer or by a house?

The tax paid daily by all Australian’s is something that is not openly discussed, the amount collected daily and where that is allocated to?

The truth is that the ATO is the criminal and cheat, it’s cheating all Australian’s out of there hard earned dollars. It’s truly time to question the ATO and to tell them how much we are going to pay them. It’s time to review all of your tax returns, ask more questions and demand more of your own money back.

Note: The high court knows that the ATO is an illegal entity operating in Australia. However, I do not know a single judge who is willing to let Australia crumble when all Australian’s find out the truth and walk away from voluntarily paying taxes.
