The fire that started at Crestwood Drive, Port Macquarie, was started by a lightning strike and then left unchecked for days. Putting the fire out at an early stage could have been done with a watering can.

The fact is the fire was left unchecked for days by authorities and firefighters. The end result was a fire burning through more than 50,000 hectares of land and killing 100’s of Koalas.
