Opinion

PetScripts launched in 2016 and is an online store allowing people to conveniently purchase medications for their animals.

PetScripts promise:

  • All products are sourced domestically and are registered with the Australian Government
  • We never sell counterfeit or foreign registered stock
  • All orders are checked and dispensed by registered Australian Pharmacists
  • We’re working every day to bring you the lowest prices and the best savings
  • We’re constantly focusing and investing on customer service and speed of delivery

What did we think

The online store is basic and allows a user to create an account, select a product and pay for it. What we did find a little annoying is the ordering process, as this requires us to snail mail post the prescription original to PetScripts provided address.

This is no way works for me, and I assume does not work for many other people either. For me to get to the post office to post the prescription I need to walk past the chemist to get there. So it’s not convenient.

As far as pricing goes, we checked multiple medications and purposely chose one that our dogs use. The price of the medication was a few cents off being double in price.

We normally purchase 28 tablets for $7.95 with a prescription from our local chemist. PetScripts has the same 28 tablets, same brand and same mg strength for $14.50. Additional to the $14.50 I then have a flat rate shipping of $9.95 and of course the $1.50 to buy an envelope and post the prescription. All up the same 28 tablets cost me $16 more and I still had to go to a post office.

Unfortunately, we’re not seeing any convenience or cost savings, other people may find this service useful, we don’t and will probably never use the service given this.

There may be savings on other medications, but I see that we would likely need these types of medications in an emergency only, and given the medication is not dispensed until the prescription arrives via snail mail it’s probably too late and not worth the effort.

If you use PetScripts we’d love to hear from you.
