One of my most hated responses is ‘ I just work here.’ When there is an issue at the place you work at, it’s everybody’s issue. Be a team player, take some responsibility and fix that issue!
Today I called a restaurant to let them know that they are breaching consumer laws by not displaying what the EFTPOS / Credit Card payment surcharge was. Consumers were only told at the point of transaction. After they had eaten and ready to leave.
The response I had from the waitress was ‘hey, I just work here’ and nothing was going to be done about the issue. So I responded and said then pass the message on. Now, I know that the message did not get passed on at all. After all, she only works there.
