I was at Hungry Jacks just a few days ago placing an order. The cashier heard what I said, but did not comprehend it and ordered it wrong, I then had to repeat the order a further 2 times right from the start. The worst thing is that it was not even a difficult order, in fact, a single item. A ‘Brekky Hero Roll’ with no Bacon.
During this transaction, something clicked with me. I was angry and puzzled why I am even standing here repeating the order as if I just walked into the store 3 different times. I instantly thought Alexa listens better than this.
It’s certainly not out of the question that Hungry Jacks need to start an in-store trial of ordering food ‘Virtual Assistant’ style. At least we will have a lot less chance of having to repeat such basic orders 3 or more times just to get what we are after.
Virtual Assistants used for ordering food at all fast food chains needs to happen and needs to happen now. I’m no longer tolerant enough to say hey that human needs more training. If the task can be replaced by a computer and AI let’s do it.
We as a society should not have to put up with stupid things like wrong orders because the Cashier cannot do the only job assigned to them. It’s equally a basic job which can be fully automated anyway right to the point of paying by PayWave or Credit Card.
